About Me...Hi everyone, I am so glad that you have stumbled upon my site! My name is Margaret and I am turning 22 this coming November (ahhhh life is starting to move faster). I have never been good with getting older, so this will be an interesting birthday. I have mostly grown up in Charleston, WV but before that I lived in Worcester, MA; Winston Salem, NC; and I was born in Zambales, PI. My dad was stationed there for a couple of years. I have 3 siblings: Andrew, Galen, and Phoebe. I am the second child of the group, and the most responsible if you ask me! My family is pretty chaotic and definitely like none other, but it has been really hard to be here without them.
I love being in NC and I definitely want to make NC or TN or SC or VA my home for my foreseeable future career! I love the southern hospitality and the weather, I am definitely looking for a southern gentleman as well. I am currently single and loving it, that fact has made being in China a whole lot more fun - no one to worry about being apart from. There is also a lot of growing that I have done here and will continue to do. Favorites... I love the colors pink and green and blue, more in the pastel low key tones! I also have recently found out that I love baking cupcakes, I find it to be quite relaxing! (I have a cupcake blog that I will be continuing once I get stateside) I am a vegetarian, not a huge fan of animals, and I love pigs!!!! Movies I love are The Wedding Date, Tangled, and too many more to list. TV Shows: by far favs being Glee, Army Wives, NCIS, and White Collar! What I eat...I have been a vegetarian since January 2009! I love being a vegetarian, actually I am an octo-lovo veggie - I eat egg and milk. I have attempted vegan, but it lasted all of a day! I just love chocolate and cheese way too much! I try to eat as unprocessed as possible, which can be hard for a college gal! I eat a lot of veggies, eggs, Kashi, oatmeal, and rarely any tofu - which is changing here in China.
I chose to become a vegetarian more as a challenge to myself. It was a Wednesday, and I bet myself I could not go the rest of the week without meat. It's not like I really ate that much meat, I just never felt healthy in what I was eating. So I went a week, and then just kept going. Once I got to college I realized that it would be hypocritical to eat meat if I could not personally kill the animal, even though I am not a huge fan of animals I still could not kill one. My mum was also an influence, she has been a vegetarian for probably over 10 years. |
School...I am a rising senior at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, to graduate in August 2013. Wow, I can not believe I am a senior - it goes SO fast! My degree will be in Accounting with a possible minor in Criminal Justice. My goal is to become a forensic accountant for an auditing firm to work internationally. At school I also work for our College of Business Advising Center. I have worked there since Spring 2011, and I absolutely love the family that is created by our ever-changing office staff! This coming semester, I will be going through interviewing and office visits for possible internships in the Spring semester.
Kicking my butt...I have been working on losing weight for what seems my entire life. Since this past fall (Fall 2011) I have seriously been working at it though. So far, I have lost about 30 pounds, but I have many more to go! I struggle everyday with being able to see the changes myself, because it is hard to notice a difference when you see yourself every day.
This turn in my life has what has changed the way I look at food and what I put into my body. I definitely have had the ups and downs of looking at it unhealthily, from eating very little, to looking at it right, eating 5 meals a day and increasing the amount I eat. But I have sooooo many great inspirations and naggers in my life. My room mate Ciara keeps on top of me about not eating enough and my best friends do that too. My most supportive person is my trainer Ryan. Definitely one of the most awesome people I know (don't tell him I said that). He has been there for me every step of the way since Spring 2011. I can always count on him for a painful kick-ass workout and helpful tidbits that he probably thinks I don't listen to, but I do! I think he is probably the one person I tell everything too, might as well right? Where will I go...So what are my goals and aspirations? I definitely look forward to graduating in August of 2013 and then heading to grad school at who knows where right now. After grad school I hope to be working for a firm (Dixon Hughes would be awesome to work for) as a forensic accountant in the South with international work. I also want to sit for my CPA within the next three years. Eventually I would love to be working for the FBI or NCIS, I am proud to be an American and I want to give back.
I also hope to meet a guy who is just as weird and quirky as me, that I can call my own. Settle down eventually and raise a family. What can I say I am your typical gal looking for a guy to share her life with... |
Me... Margaret
